February 2021: On Your Radar features a new performing arts venue, a large-scale industrial facility, and more!

CONVERSION OF PARTIALLY BUILT HOTELS INTO APARTMENTS  / Project ID 2022-023C
Proposed is the conversion of two 4-story partially built hotels into an 84-unit apartment complex. The buildings will be conjoined by a newly built common area and would include one, two, and three bedroom apartments, along with a pool.

ASSISTED LIVING AND MEMORY CARE FACILITY / Project ID 2022-02C0
Overall, this $13 million facility will include 40 assisted living units consisting of 10 studio units, 10 one-bedroom units, four two-bedroom units, 16 memory care studio units and 30 independent living units. Conceptual plans include a theater and salon.

NEW INNOVATION AND TECHNOLOGY CENTER FOR A UNIVERSITY / Project IDs 2022-0359 and 2022-035D
Phase one will include the construction of a 17,000 square foot $10 million facility and phase two will be a 55,000 square foot $40 million addition. Phase one bidding is slated for spring 2023 with completion in early 2024.

CAMPUS RENOVATION AND UPGRADE FOR A COLLEGE / Project ID 2022-042C
They anticipate putting this out for bid later in the spring for summer construction, but it is not approved yet. Some of the specific project components include updating traditional classroom spaces; advanced manufacturing will be expanded, and facility renovations will include 2,000 square feet of lab space, a multipurpose classroom, and increased space for mechanical support; renovating 860 square feet of existing space to create a Certified Nurse Aide classroom; and relocating administrative offices.

NEW PERFORMING ARTS VENUE / Project ID 2022-05D2
The four-story venue will have a two-story main stage and balcony with room for 2,025 people; a private party room with a balcony overlooking the main stage; multi-purpose community rooms for local non-profits, school groups and community event rentals; office, studio, and retail space; and 40 artist lofts to rent on the third and fourth floors. Construction is scheduled for this summer on this $21 million project.

DOWNTOWN APARTMENT DEVELOPMENT / Project ID 2022-06CC
The City of Dowagiac seeks developers with experience and capability to develop and to manage high quality apartment buildings on a 1.35-acre city-owned lot downtown. The vision includes up to 40 units, and the buildings can be 2-3 stories and approximately 42,000 square feet. The due date for developers is February 21st.

LARGE SCALE INDUSTRIAL FACILITY / Project ID 2022-063B
There are two conceptual site plans for this project. One plan is for the construction of two 402,500 square foot industrial buildings while the other plan is for the construction of a 600,000 square foot industrial building. They will be starting work on more detailed drawings in the next 60 days.
