The Amy Van Andel Library and Community Center project began as a guided ambition in the mid-2000s. The community of Ada, Michigan envisioned the building as a way to encourage the flourishment of the community. A fundraising campaign called “Our Next Chapter” began in order to benefit the Ada community with a local gathering and learning space. This building will continue to benefit the residents and community members for years to come.
With construction beginning in August 2019, Erhardt Construction Co had a $10.1 million budget for the 24,000 square foot space. While not LEED-certified, the Amy Van Andel Library does benefit from the energy-saving systems and materials used, as well as the healthier materials that LEED has ushered into the building industry.
Erhardt Construction received assistance from many subcontractors who worked above and beyond to complete the project. Using the highest of standards and keeping the project on schedule, Erhardt would like to recognize the following subcontractors:
Triad Fire Suppression
Van Dellan Steel
J Stevens Roofing
Eckhoff & DeVries Painting
Twin Lakes Nursery
Even with the unforeseen challenges of the COVID-19 shutdown, Erhardt secured the building and worked to identify long-ranging delivery issues. They continued to maintain a safe working environment when they returned and the project was completed in February of 2021.
