March 2022: On Your Radar features a new black history museum, the renovation of a main campus building, a large-scale apartment development, and more!

PHASE 2 FOR A NEW ROAD COMMISSION COMPLEX  / Project ID 2022-0993
This project is anticipated to bid during mid-April. Plans include an office building, heated vehicle storage, equipment repair/maintenance building, storage building and vehicle wash building.

NEW BLACK HISTROY MUSEUM  / Project ID 2022-0858
This $30 million museum will feature a performance arts stage; a movie theater; a chapel for religious services for all denominations; and a free and open children’s interactive play area and classroom learning lab. The museum will also have a soul food cafe, conference rooms for meetings and lectures, and an onsite gift shop. A building or parcel of land has not yet been identified and the goal is to have the museum open by the Juneteenth holiday in 2024.

LARGE SCALE BUSINESS CAMPUS  / Project ID 2022-0B39
This 30-acre business campus will include one or more buildings with at least 400,000 – 480,000 square feet for light industrial, warehouse, and distribution operations. The project is in the early planning stages with bidding planned for 2023.

MIXED USE DEVELOPMENT / Project ID 2022-0AE0
This Brownfield Plan anticipates approximately $13.8 million in total capital investments. Building 1 will be a 27,445 square foot building for office/ financial/ institutional/ medical space. Building 2 will be a new two-story, 19,830 square foot multi-family building with 30 apartments. Construction is slated to begin on both buildings this summer with completion by summer 2024.

RENOVATION OF MAIN CAMPUS BUILDING / Project ID 2022-0C18
The request for proposals for design and construction management services is due on April 1. The renovated 3-story, 56,000 square foot building is proposed to house updated facilities that include but are not limited to: multiple academic classrooms, computer labs, science labs, a student library, GED teaching/testing space, culturally inspired common spaces throughout, multiple meeting rooms and community space, student study spaces, faculty offices, and administrative offices.

LARGE SCALE APARTMENT DEVELOPMENT / Project ID 2022-0D31
Plans include 344 luxury apartment and townhome units and 531 parking spaces. This project is planned for bidding in a few months with groundbreaking in September.

LARGE SCALE INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT / Project ID 2022-0C94
Plans are to build onsite manufacturing plants ranging in size from 150,000 to 1 million square feet. Groundbreaking is planned for late summer.
