April 2022: On Your Radar features a new apartment development, an indoor recreation center, and more!

LARGE-SCALE BIOENERGY MATERIAL RECOVERY FACILITY / Project IDs 2022-0DA2 and 2017-164B
The total project estimate is $280 million. Approximately $19 million will be used for necessary site preparation and infrastructure. The Material Recovery Facility will be a multifaceted, mixed waste processing facility capable of handling 430,000 tons of municipal solid waste and recyclables each year to produce renewable natural gas, fertilizer, and recyclable commodities. The project is in development now until later this fall and is expected to be operational in about 3 years.

LARGE-SCALE MIXED-USE DEVELOPMENT  / Project ID 2022-0DC8
The city held a discussion-only meeting in February regarding selling the land. The development will consist of a mix of all or some of the following: an assisted living center, hotel, corporate offices, a fitness center, restaurant, and commercial/ retail space.

NEW APARTMENT DEVELOPMENT  / Project ID 2022-0F6A
This $3 to $4 million project is slated to start before the end of 2022. Plans call for 2 three-story apartment buildings including 18 units and 4,500 square feet of ground-floor retail space.

APARTMENT COMPLEX WITH TWO COMMERCIAL BUILDINGS  / Project ID 2022-0FA6
Plans call for 7 three-story apartment buildings with 24 units each for a total of 168 units, 2 commercial/office buildings, multiple detached garage buildings, and 425 total parking spaces. According to the developer, this project is in the early stages and a long way off from approval.

LARGE-SCALE CO-WAREHOUSE COMMERCIAL DISCTIRCT / Project IDs 2022-1162, 2022-1165, 2022-1166
The construction drawings will be ready for bidding around June. There will be 24 buildings to serve non-profit organizations, Fortune 500 companies, business franchises and entrepreneurs. These industries include healthcare, home improvement, retail, and distribution.

INDOOR RECREATION CENTER AND FULL-SIZE DOME / Project ID 2022-0F37
Proposed is the construction of a $12 million indoor recreation center and a full-size dome-covered football field. Construction is scheduled to start in summer 2023.

LARGE-SCALE MIXED-USE DEVELOPMENT / Project ID 2022-11C7
Plans include a hotel, restaurants, retail, drive-thru, and a gas station on 10.4 acres. The hotel will include 127 rooms, 3 floors, and 4 electric charging stations. Per the developer, they are in the process to change the city’s master plan, so there are no plans to build at this juncture.
