In the October 2021: On Your Radar report, I’ll highlight the redevelopment of an elementary school, a new manufacturing plant, and more!

RENOVATIONS FOR A COMMUNITY COMPLEX / Project ID 2021-2423
The new structure will house a new library, a learning bank, and a community living room. The idea for the project is to create a campus-like complex instead of 3 separate entities. Proposed additions outside of the new building include over 3,500 square feet of new public community porches, and 2,500 square feet of rain gardens, plus external restrooms.

NEW APARTMENT COMPLEX / Project ID 2021-24E3
Construction is slated to begin on this $13 million apartment complex in October 2022. The development will be four stories high, approximately 46,000 square feet, and feature between 44 and 53 apartments.

NEW HOTEL / Project ID 2021-240C
Last month, the city council approved conceptual plans for this $7 to $9 million hotel.

REDEVELOPMENT OF AN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL INTO APARTMENTS AND MIXED-USE SPACE / Project ID 2021-2516
The two-story building is estimated to cost $7.5 million to renovate. It will provide 50 one-bedroom and studio market-rate apartments, along with public spaces and professional offices. Aspects of the classrooms will be kept, such as the chalkboards on the walls in apartments, and placing classroom furniture in the communal spaces.

NEW NURSING HOME AND REHABILITATION CENTER / Project ID 2021-257B
Plans include 100 private suites and 125 parking spaces for this 84,725 square foot facility. Construction is anticipated to begin in June 2022.

RENOVATIONS FOR A NEW BEHAVIORAL HEALTH UNIT AT A HOSPITAL / Project ID 2021-259E
Renovations for a 12-bed behavioral health unit for children and adolescents are estimated to cost $10.6 million. Bidding for general contractors is anticipated to start in approximately 6 to 9 months.

NEW MANUFACTURING PLANT / Project ID 2021-2507
The township Board of Trustees reviewed a community block grant application on October 7. The project is estimated to cost $73.5 million.

LARGE SCALE PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT, OPERATIONS, AND SUPPORT FACILITY / Project ID 2021-25D2
The owner is investing $57 million into the new facility and plans to break ground by the end of 2021. The new building will be 130,000 square feet.
