With a 130 year history, the Builders Exchange of Michigan is no stranger to reporting on a project for long periods of time, from the planning stages to contract awards. Since 2010, our team has been reporting on the progress of the Fruitport Casino, proposed to be constructed on the former site of the Great Lakes Downs horse race track. The Little River Band of Ottawa Indians purchased this property in 2015 and will require State approval before beginning construction.
A public hearing was held in mid-December with Muskegon County officials, residents, businesses, tribal members, and educational leaders to give comment on the US Department of Interior’s Bureau of Indian Affairs impact statement. Most attendees appeared to be in favor of the casino. If all goes according to plan, the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians hopes to open this new building in 2020!
The Builders Exchange has followed up on this project routinely. We are dedicated to maintaining accurate information for our members at all times, to keep them ahead of the curve! Want to see how the progress is coming? Track planning project 2010-0248 to see more details as they emerge!
